Donna Kshir/ Dear Diary/ sample review

Money is the root of all evil. Money can’t buy you love. Don’t ever let money corrupt the pure essence of love or you might regret it as long as you live.
In her confession to her diary, Donna Kshir exposes a heartbreaking problem many women can relate to. Once in a happy relationship with Ryan, a man she deeply loved and still loves, a young woman pours her heart out while exposing her inner feelings in her diary.
Ryan used to be a loving person and probably an incredible lover too who deeply loved his partner. Time passing by, things changed. Ryan let the greed for money change his heart and corrupt his soul. The greedier you are, the angrier you get, because material possessions can’t bring you happiness and inner satisfactions.
Is love blind? Do women idealize the person they love? Certainly, yes.
Women in love always find sweet excuses in order to defend the person they love. Even heartbroken and rejected by their beloved one, they also refuse to envision the change of character that may have happened with their boyfriend or husband.
I have been there too and I perfectly understand it from a woman’s psychological point of view. We are the most likely to blame ourselves for his faults and misbehaviors. Even verbal and physical abuse won’t discourage them from defending a man who obviously has no excuses at his active.
Donna Kshir has a refreshing writing style that offers the reader some interesting perspective about a woman’s introspection about her own mistakes. She manages to captivate her readership with her sense of realness that is reflected through her words.

« Dear Diary–Confessions. page 1 Dear Diary, He’s late again. In some ways it’s almost normal. I know what to expect from him. In the beginning Ryan was a good man, a good person. We were so young, so much in love. We had so many plans, goals and most of all dreams. Over the years, money has changed Ryan. The more money he made, the more he changed. At times, I felt like he was a stranger. It’s almost like, I didn’t know him anymore. My problem was I loved him. I loved him so very much. I believed in him, trusted in him. Whether he was right or wrong, I stood by his side. It was partly my fault, I made excuses for him. When he blamed our problems on everything around us and everyone in our lives, for him changing. I blamed myself and allowed him to separate us from everyone and everything in our lives, that we ever knew. As the months went by and things didn’t get any better, I again blamed myself. I even blamed myself when he started abusing me. I blamed myself, I never blamed him, that too was my fault. He was right and I was wrong. In some silly way I thought, I must had done something to make him mad enough to hurt me. If I could only change, to be what he wanted me to be. If I could somehow be perfect, he’d love me again. If I could only make him see me and love me, like he did in the beginning. Things in our life would get back to normal, whatever normal is. It didn’t matter what I said or what I did to change myself. It didn’t change his feelings towards me. It only made him more angry and more violent. I knew in my heart, that I had been a good wife and a good person. I had been faithful throughout my marriage. I began to realize the problem didn’t lie with me, it was with him. He wasn’t the same person I fell in love with, he wasn’t even the same person I married. Years and money had made him cold and hard, I didn’t know him anymore. He was no longer the fun loving man, I once knew. »

Smack That Akon featuring Eminem video review

Rating: 3 stars
Picture Akon into his favorite role, the role of a convict. Unlike many prisoners, Akon seems to know how to organize his time and how to rejoice in a place that depresses so many people. Yes, you guessed it right: the music means everything to him. Watch Akon sing the Smack That melody while clapping in his hands:
« Smack that, all on the floor,
smack that, give me some more,
smack that, ’till you get sore
smack that, oooh.
smack that, all on the floor,
smack that, give me some more,
smack that, ’till you get sore,
smack that, oooh. »
A police officer interrupts Akon while singing, asking him to help him out in finding a witness.
Meet Akon at the club while some gogo dancers check their asses. Akon is in search for a specific dancer:
« Up front style. Ready to attack now.
Pull in the parking lot slow with the lack down.
Convicts got the whole thing packed down.
Step in the club. The wardrobe intact now.
I feel it. Go on and crack now.
Ooh, I see it. Don’t let back now.
Im’a call her. Then I put the mack down.
Money? No problem. Pocket full of that now.
I feel you creepin’, I can see you from my shadow.
Wanna jump up in my Lamborghini Gallardo.
Maybe go to my place and just kick it, like Taebo.
And possibly bend you over.
Look back and watch me
smack that, all on the floor,
smack that, give me some more,
smack that, ’till you get sore
smack that, oooh.
smack that, all on the floor,
smack that, give me some more »
Meet his accomplice Slim Shady at the club, enjoying the crazy « big booty shake » in a festive atmosphere:
« Eminem’s rollin’, D an’ them rollin’.
Boo an’ Oh Marvelous an’ them rollin’.
Women just hoin’.
Big booty rollin’.
Soon I be all in them an’ throwin D.
Hittin’ no less than 3.
Block will style like wee, wee.
Girl, I can tell you want me, ’cause lately. »
Akon’s vocal performance during the whole video is smashing. He appears into the role of a seducer. Eminem makes a short appearance on the video, nicely dressed in urban clothes and flows with ease on a nice beat.
However , I am a little bit disappointed by the main line of the story that lacks a little bit creativity as far as I am concerned. Also, as I stated it several times, I don’t think that Eminem really fits into « club songs ». Some of you readers might disagree with me, but those of you who followed Marshall Mathers’ career since his early beginnings know that he can do much more better than that.
Globally, the video is average. Akons voice makes the song pleasurable, though. I gave it an average rating of 3 stars.

Eminem working on new album

Hip-hop superstar Eminem has further rubbished retirement rumours with the news he is working on a new D-12 album, which will include tracks recorded with slain bandmember Proof.
The Stan hitmaker fuelled rumours he was set to step behind the scenes when he pulled out of his European tour with 50 Cent last year and subsequently went into rehab to treat an addiction to prescription medication.
And the murder of Eminem’s best friend Proof in a nightclub in their hometown of Detroit, Michigan, in April was thought to have further distanced him from the hip-hop scene.
But he says: “The D-12 album and those unreleased songs with Proof are coming.”

Rakim speaks out about Eminem

Watch the interview on You Tube.
The interview in itself is interesting, but I didn’t like the way the French interviewer tried to put Eminem down nor did I like the fact that he was trying to dissociate Em from D12. You could barely envision Em without D12. Not only have Em and D12 been collaborating since the 90’s, but they also have history together. It is a story of friendship between Detroit underground emcees sharing the same passion for the music and trying to make it.
Obviously, the interviewer was not aware of that.
Rakim, however, raised some interesting points regarding Eminem. I am happy to know that he considers that Em has some talent, regardless of his skin color.
Feel free to comment on that interview. Remember that you have the right to disagree- politely though.
Constructive criticism is always welcome, but insults and sarcasm are NOT and will be deleted.

Bouncer found guilty of weapon charges in Proof shooting(Detroit Free Press)

Ronald J. Hansen The Detroit News
DETROIT — The bouncer who killed the rapper Proof after firing warning shots in a club was convicted Wednesday of two weapons crimes in the April gunfight.
A Wayne County jury took less than five hours to convict Mario Etheridge, 35, of shooting in an occupied building and carrying a concealed weapon. He was not charged with killing Proof, who had shot Etheridge’s cousin moments after the two warning shots.
He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 17 in Wayne Circuit Court.
Elizabeth Walker, an assistant county prosecutor, maintained Etheridge made matters worse when Proof, 32, began fighting with 28-year-old Keith Bender Jr.
“There was too much testosterone in the club and he added another cupful,” she said after the verdict. “You’re not going to make a situation better by bringing a gun into it.”
Etheridge’s dejected family complained afterward that the verdict wasn’t fair and failed to account for a man simply trying to end the fight.
The April 11 shooting happened about 4 a.m. at the C.C.C. Club on Eight Mile. An intoxicated Proof, whose real name was Deshaun Holton, had hectored a man who was beating him at pool.
Bender, an Army veteran who was celebrating news of an improved heart condition, had words with Proof, presumably about the way he had treated the man.
As the fight escalated, Etheridge fired two shots into the club’s ceiling, witnesses said.
Moments later, Proof shot Bender, in the face, and Etheridge then shot and killed Proof.
Etheridge’s attorney, Randall Upshaw, had told the jury that his client wasn’t aggressive until Proof shot his cousin.
Proof died at the club and Bender died a week later.

More collaborations to come…

Since I am currently staying in London…I gotta make the best of it.
You all know me as the Eminem and D12 freak, the big Detroit and Michigan hip hop lover, the US hip hop head, no matter where the music comes from. Yes, that’s me. But generally speaking I am very much open minded about anything new I can discover-like the British hip hop scene. I already started investigating it a little bit from France, but British hip hop co dot uk gave me the opportunity to collaborate with them.
My reviews for British hip hop co dot uk will be exclusive so you will have to click this link to read them.

Eminem divorce is going to mediator

By DAVID N. GOODMAN
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. Sep 19, 2006 (AP)— Eminem, his estranged wife and their lawyers met privately in a judge’s chambers Tuesday but failed to agree to terms for the couple’s second divorce.
“We didn’t settle it, so all we did was set it for mediation,” Macomb County Circuit Judge Antonio Viviano told reporters after the conference, which lasted about an hour.
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, filed for divorce from Kimberley Mathers on April 5, 82 days after their second wedding.
The couple had daughter Hailie in 1996, married in 1999, divorced in 2001, remarried on Jan. 14 and then quickly separated again.
The 33-year-old rapper has used his sometimes tormented relationship with his high school sweetheart as a source of some of his angriest lyrics.
Kimberley Mathers, 31, has another daughter and is raising her sister’s daughter. Eminem has been legal guardian of his half brother.
Kimberley Mathers declined comment on her way out of the courthouse. Eminem wasn’t seen leaving the building.
His lawyer, Harvey Hauer, and Kimberley Mathers’ lawyer, Michael J. Smith, wouldn’t discuss the hearing but expressed optimism for a settlement.
“Mr. Mathers’ only concern is the welfare of his children,” Hauer said. “Hopefully, we’ll put the matter behind us.”
“Like Marshall … what she really wants is the welfare of the children,” Smith said. “The parties are hopeful that it will be settled amicably.”
Eminem has won nine Grammy Awards, including best rap album for “The Slim Shady LP,” “The Marshall Mathers LP” and “The Eminem Show.” He won an Oscar for the song “Lose Yourself” from “8 Mile,” the semi-autobiographical 2002 film in which he starred.
His latest recording project, “Eminem Presents: The Re-Up,” will be released in December.
Initially expected to be a street mixtape project designed to help launch new artists on his record label, Shady Records, the CD now will be offered for sale in record stores by Interscope Records.
Interscope is part of Universal Music Group Recordings Inc.
