Xzibit/ Concentrate/ video review

Averate rating: 4 stars
Many people might not be conscious of it, but the spiritual and material world are deeply interconnected. Let rap master Xzibit transport you into a Japanese temple. An old monk is reciting the same mantra while Xzibit is accompanied by some sexy girls starts rapping on very rhythmic beats that are punctuated by gong sounds.
Let Xzibit introduce you into a spiritual world made of meditation and levitation that will contrast with his material words towards the girls who are shaking their bodies. The moves are perfectly married with the intense beats and the monk’s repetitive mantra.
The video offers you some beautiful kung fu scenes. Everybody moves with ease. The pretty girls make it difficult to concentrate.
Once again LA legend Xzibit, Mr X, has shown his immense talent. The video is creative, original and certainly not what an average listener would expect from a « shake that » alike song. The mantra and the rhythm combined together make the cadence highly enjoyable.
Lyrics do matter, for sure, but Xzibit has given a new sense to the word rhythm through his pulsating song.

Eminem to sell album to a wider audience (The Register Guard)

Eminem will mark his return to record stores later this year with “Eminem Presents: The Re-Up,” which is slated for release Dec. 5.
Originally conceived as a mixtape strictly for consumption by the streets, the compilation album will now be released by Interscope Records in the thick of the holiday season, the rapper has announced.
advertisement “What happened is that the material was so good and the tracks were getting produced like a regular album,” Eminem said in a statement released last week by his record label.
“Instead of putting it out there rough and unfinished, I thought we should add some other new tracks, make it a real album and put it in the record stores to give these new artists a real boost.”
The album, executive produced by Eminem, will include songs by Shady Records artists such as Stat Quo, Bobby Creekwater and Ca$his, as well as tracks by D12, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Obie Trice, Akon and Eminem himself.
The first single and video will be “You Don’t Know,” a track by Em, 50, Banks and Ca$his.

Eminem’s latest divorce might be headed for trial (Detroit Free Press)

A look at the couple’s second marriage
Here is a look at the most recent marriage and divorce of Eminem (aka Marshall B. Mathers III) and Kimberley Mathers.
Jan. 9: Couple applies for marriage license in Macomb County.
Jan. 14: They are married at Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester Hills.
April 5: Eminem files for divorce.
April 26: Kimberley Mathers files response, seeking financial support and for Eminem to continue paying for the couple’s Clinton Township home.
In a countercomplaint, she also asks for custody of their daughter.
June 22: Couple meets in private for the first time since the divorce was filed.
Sept. 19: After a second meeting, case is referred to a mediator and a Dec. 19 trial date is set.
Rap megastar Eminem and wife Kimberley Mathers could be headed for trial in their ongoing divorce case after a settlement conference Tuesday in Macomb County Circuit Court failed to reach an agreement.
Mathers and Eminem, whose given name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, met privately Tuesday morning in the chambers of Chief Judge Antonio P. Viviano. They asked Viviano to appoint attorney Dan Stepek to try to mediate a settlement of property and issues stemming from their prenuptial agreement.
Viviano granted that request, and though the divorce may be worked out through mediation, he set a Dec. 19 trial date.
Neither Eminem nor his wife appeared in the courtroom, instead meeting behind closed doors for about an hour.
The couple share custody of their 10-year-old daughter, Hailie. They were married for the second time in April, but the rapper filed for divorce just 82 days later, citing in court papers “a breakdown in the marriage relationship to the extent that the objects of matrimony have been destroyed.”
The filing did not give specifics. Kimberley Mathers filed a response and countercomplaint three weeks later, asking for financial support from Eminem and custody of their daughter.
Eminem’s attorney, Harvey I. Hauer of Bingham Farms, did not return phone calls Tuesday.
Kimberley Mathers’ attorney, Michael J. Smith of Sterling Heights, said the meeting was comfortable.
“Nobody likes to be in court,” Smith said. “But both parties want to do what’s best for their children, so everybody’s going in that direction.”
Kimberley Mathers also has a daughter from a prior relationship.
Viviano also ordered any paperwork challenging the prenuptial agreement to be filed at least six weeks before the trial, with responses filed no less than a month before the trial.

Let It Fly, a brand new explosive Trick Trick song (review)

Average rating: 4 stars
Christian Mathis aka Trick Trick , Detroit’s truest OG, is back with an explosive gangsta track called Let It Fly.
Rhythmic keyboard sounds come to shine along with Trick Trick’s gritty voice. Here he steps up in the club with a true hustling style. If you like him, walk with him. If you can’t stand him, fear him as much as the demons fear God.
When Trick Trick is stepping up in the Detroit hood, a whole crew is here to back him up. Detroit is in the house, open up your ears and listen to Trick Trick name his homies and crews by their names: Goon Squad, the Street Lordz, Rock Bottom, the Cheddar Boys, the D12 « killa mercenaries », Purple Gang.
Trick Trick gives this beautiful raw dimension that is so typical to Detroit rap. The artist flows with confidence on a very rhythmic track . The talented artist manages to transport the listener into the streets of the Detroit hood from 6 Mile to 8 Mile where hustling games and gun talks are the common rule.
Trick Trick’s voice is intimidating and leaves no place for cowards. His message is clear, you better not mess with him and his crew.
« Throw your guns up and let the whole club know that you’re in this bitch! »
The talented Detroit emcee would barely leave a gangsta rap lover indifferent. Known in Detroit as a straight up G with an honor code (his reputation is preceding him faster than his shadow), Trick Trick is also an artist of great talent who has already years of work with his Goon Sqwad team behind him.
Check out Trick Trick’s brand new song and download it from here.

Sooner or later, the truth will shine…

April the 11th marked the end of an era with the tragic shooting of Deshaun Holton better known as D12’s Proof at the CCC club in 7 Mile. A true ambassador of hip hop’s life had been taken in Detroit. For those who knew the man and his music, Proof proudly represented his city and was promoting it on an international scale. He was Detroit hip hop, regardless of what haters might say.
Biased journalists with no real knowledge of hip hop culture were keen on drawing the picture of a merciless thug when they talked about the emcee.
Proof’s wife, Sharonda Holton is here to testify that Proof wasn’t the bad guy the media want people to believe he actually was:
“I didn’t believe the story of Deshaun shooting someone. I’m going to still say that, because I knew The DeShaun I married. He had entirely too much to lose. Now, I will say he was a fighter. He will scrap. But cold blooded murder? I don’t think so”
(Sharonda Holton)
His family and his friends never believed the press’ fabricated stories about Proof. Neither do the people who have been in depth into the artist’s music. Proof appeared to be sensitive artist, who was real in his words.
After the drama had happened, I sensed a lot of hostility from the Bender clan who even created a demeaning my space account to make fun of Proof’s horrible death. The Bender family was trying to sue Proof’s estate. I find it particularly hypocritical when Mario Etheridge’s aunt dares to claim that Proof was a trouble maker. Moreover, who is she to state that « Proof deserved that bullet in his brain »? :
“ I think it’s all lies. This is the biggest load of crap I’ve heard in a long time. My nephew is not a violent man. He was trying to protect his cousin from that violent thug, and look what happened. This rapper has a history of violence throughout the entire police department and has a reputation of starting trouble. He deserved that bullet in his brain. If anyone looks at his criminal record and you made a comparison to my nephew’s, with sense, you can only come to one conclusion.”
As a matter of fact, Proof had some criminal records. The talented emcee was known for his quick temper too. However, it doesn’t make a cruel person nor a murderer of him. This early morning of April the 11th (which is also close to the version of an anonymous witness that appeared in XXL July issue), somebody was obviously trying to get rid of Proof, supposedly out of jealousy, if we consider that the main argument revolved around the « king of Detroit title ».
Calling Proof a murderer is surrealistic when we perfectly know that nobody was able to find any trace of gunpowder on him at his autopsy.
Of course, we don’t know exactly what happened, except that two men, Deshaun Holton and Keith Bender lost their lives. According to a witness’ statement, it looks like Keith started it all:
“I was talking to a chick and then, all of a sudden here comes keith bender bumping into proof, and all I hear is Dadadadadada..!” (from an anonymous witness »
I am happy to know that Mario Etheridge had been found guilty of weapon charges recently.
I sincerely hope that he will be trialed severely for using a firearm. You don’t stop violence by violence. Mario Etheridge should have called 911 instead of pulling out a gun.
There are still so many dark zones regarding the CCC club drama of April the 11 th. Hopefully the justice will make further steps to make light on the whole affair for Proof’s name to be definitely cleared.
Deshaun Holton inspired and still inspires numerous people through his music. He will never be forgotten.
None of us, whether family, friends or simply fans will ever accept the « evil monster » image some biased media wanted RIP Proof to endorse.
Living Proof of Detroit hip hop, you will never be forgotten.
