Keemotherapy: remedy to hip hop’s cancer
Keemotherapy is a 18 year old solo artist who grew up across 6 Mile Road in Detroit, Michigan.
Keemotherapy’s music is enriched with some Midwest sounds and gives the underground artist a particular flavor.
Keemo Therapy is an entertaining tack that starts on a very rhythmic melody made of violins, piano, drum and keyboard sounds. The rap game is sick and Keemotherapy is the remedy to its cancer.
Armed with his clever spirit and incisive words, Keemotherapy flows in great haste. Keemotherapy is never afraid to get surgical and will make you fully enjoy his lyrical ability. Don’t sleep on the track mentioned above!
Come On is built on soft vocals contrasting with some harsh electric guitar and drum sounds that will make you feel the harshness of the Murder Mitten.
Looking At is a beautifully « All Eyes On Me » handled track.
Offensive lyrics, rhythmic keyboards, a lot of self confidence are the essential components of a successful recipe that is highly enjoyable to the listeners. Listen to Keemotherapy rep the D with pride.
Don’t miss the gangsta track that leaves no place for the haters.

Deshaun Holton aka Proof as a young emcee

I love this pic, so I am sharing it with all of you:)
DMX, Year Of The Dog, again…
After a three-year hiatus, DMX is slated to release Year of the Dog, Again on Ruff Ryders/Sony Music.
DMX was initially slated to release the album under the title Here We Go, Again last summer. The album would have dropped under Def Jam. Since then, DMX has left the label and signed with Sony Music.
Contrary to popular belief, DMX is still signed to Ruff Ryders. In fact, Swizz Beatz is reported to have played a big role in the album and produced its first single, “We In Here.” Simmons made history when his previous five albums, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, Flesh Of My Flesh Blood Of My Blood, And Then There Was X, The Great Depression and Grand Champ all debuted at number one on the Billboard Album charts. Year of the Dog, Again is slated to hit stores this summer.
Next Detroit to be featured on the Eminem blog…
Keemo-Therapy…stay tuned, folks:)
Negativity in the rap business and commercial strategies: do’s and don’ts
I have been in touch with many artists through the years, mainly for promotion purposes. I have also been an active contributor to Detroit and Michigan hip hop for three years now.
A friend and fellow fan of the Detroit rap scene recently raised the question of the negativity coming from some emcees in particular. I myself have observed a lot of negativity within the Detroit underground rap scene.
This article is aimed at all the emcees who are interested in choosing the right strategy to increase their CD sales.
Most of the negativity comes from a bad jealousy aimed at each other. Everybody claims to be the best. Everybody claims to have the hottest skills and instrumentals. Everybody claims that their rivals are « whack as hell ». First and foremost, I have an important question to ask all of you: « how much realistic is that bullshit? »
If you are that good, how come that you didn’t even manage to get known on a national scale?
First of all, you all need to put your goddamn egos aside and analyze your weaknesses in a very realistic way. Take not only friend’s opinion, but value strangers’ opinion, even if it isn’t that favorable towards your music. This is the best way to stay honest and to have a realistic approach of your work.
Once you will be aware of your weaknesses, you will be able to work on them. That’s the first thing you should think about before running your mouths.
I also noticed that many of you prompt to diss your rivals in order to get some publicity.
In case you are incredibly skilled and you master flow and instrumentals, this sounds ok to me. It can be described as a good marketing strategy.
However, in case you are not that good, please reconsider dissing people.
If you have the lyrical skills of a four year old boy and you spell like a pupil of elementary school, all you will reach is make yourself look like a clown.
Remember Benzino tried to play this stupid game. He tried to get attention by dissing a talented emcee like Marshall Mathers and ended looking like the pathetic loser he actually is. Oh yea, he draw some attention from people- in a negative way, though.
I think that many underground artists should be able to take some constructive criticism when needed instead of growing big heads that are about to explode.
My advice to many of you are the following:
– ask not only people from your friends’ circle for their opinion about your music
– be ready to accept some constructive (and even negative criticism) from people
– improve your work…even when you think that it is good, you can always improve it
– only diss your rivals when you have the skills unless you want people to know that you are a « fucking loser ».
– use an image that fits yourself and your music…don’t play it gangsta when everybody knows you are not. In short…keep it REAL.
– make some REAL progress…then you will be credible on your musical scene.
Don’t take those advices in a negative way. I have observed a lot of wrong behaviors coming from emcees and I am just trying to help out.
I have been watching your scene for years from an external eye and my deepest wish is for all of you to make some real progress and to make it in the music industry.

Beanie Sigel shot (More Hip Hop Com article)
SOUTH PHILADELPHIA – May 25, 2006 – Rapper Beanie Sigel has been shot along a South Philadelphia street this morning and is being treated at the hospital.
Reports in to Action News indicate Sigel was shot during a robbery attempt and hit in the upper arm. It happened shortly after 8 a.m.
He apparently drove himself to a nearby hospital and is being treated.
Sigel, whose real name is Dwight Grant, told police that 5 black men in 2 vehicles blocked him in and a black male in his 30s about 5′ 11″ tall with a beard wearing jeans and timberland boots shot him twice in the upper right arm. One of the vehicles is described as a dark colored vehicle with tinted windows.
Action News is tracking this developing story and will have more coming up on Action News at Noon.
If the man who murdered Proof is not considered as a murderer any more…
where is the justice?
I came across the following article yesterday and I am deeply shocked to learn from the press that Mario Ethridge, the man who killed Proof on April the 11th, is not considered as guilty of murder charges any more.
I feel no sympathy for Mario Ethridge nor for any other member of Keith Bender’s family, dear readers. Let me tell you why.
During the two days that followed Deshaun Holton’s death, somebody from Detroit rap found out that a shameful and awful my space account had been created by people from the Bender clan, at a time Keith Bender was still alive, fighting for his life. On this account, a man that went by the nickname « Detroit’s Finest » was poking fun of Proofs death, showing pics of a burst brain and firearms. The same person was making statements implying retaliation against D12, rejoicing about the group’s loss.
I cried the worst tears when I saw this account and I am pretty much sure that I am not the only one who felt like this.
Some Detroiter had to give Tom from My Space a call to get this horrible account deleted.
I cant forgive and wont forget the awful words that have been said there.
Frankly, I dont claim to know the truth about what happened at the CCC club in Detroit. Yes, Proof shot on Keith Bender for whatever reason, but I assume that he must have been in danger to act like this.
What I understand less, is Mario Ethridge putting an end to Proof’s life. Even assuming that his cousin had been shot and wounded, wasnt he supposed to call 911 before shooting blindly on Proof?
Moreover, I find it shocking that Bender’s family is suing Proof’s estates, as if his horrible death wasnt enough.
Considering such facts, it is hard to believe in human justice any more. I do pray that someday we will know the whole truth about the circumstances of Deshaun Holtons death.
Many media have drawn a distorted image Proof. As a matter of fact, those people has no idea about the incredible person and amazing artist Deshaun Holton aka Proof actually was. They fastly prejudged of a situation they had no insight about
May the remaining witnesses who have stayed in the shadow till now have the courage to stand up for the whole truth to be exposed. Then justice will be done.

Immortal Technique/ Fourth Branch/ video review
Rating: 4.5 stars
Immortal Technique is one of those emcees who has my full respect. Not only is he talented, Immortal Technique is also politically engaged and has some important things to tell to America and to the whole world.
It is high time for people to realize what America’s leaders are all about. With his deep honesty and his courage, Immortal Technique unveils Bush’s hypocrisy about religion and his world policies.
Soft guitar sounds introduce the video, followed by drum beats that will make you feel the drama and the tension. Open your eyes and be ready to watch atrocities committed in the name of a so-called democracy.
Let the Dead Presidents burn in front of your eyes, because money is the main culprit for all those horrible war crimes. Shoot the symbols of capitalism dead.
I have been criticized as a foreign music journalist for attacking Bush, but frankly, I don’t care. I will stand up against any government that spreads racism, injustice and social inequalities. I have courageously raised my voice against the French government as well at a time France was burning because our government tries to legitimate racism and to single out people from the ghettos.
Yes, I agree with Immortal Technique’s views about Mr Bush’s government. Also, having studied geopolitics, I am very much aware of the interdependence of different countries all over the world. Mr Bush’s decisions have consequences for the world.
Don’t be deaf to Immortal Technique’s message:
« The voice of racism preaching the gospel is devilish
A fake church called the prophet Muhammad a terrorist
Forgetting God is not a religion, but a spiritual bond
And Jesus is the most quoted prophet in the Qu’ran
They bombed innocent people, tryin’ to murder Saddam
When you gave him those chemical weapons to go to war with Iran… »
Christian religious fanatics have spread a fake image of Islam, making the average American citizen of White America believe that Islam personifies terrorism.
Yes, let’s talk about the hypocrisy of a Jesus drawn as a white man in order to settle racist religious beliefs. Whoever claims that Jesus was a white man is WRONG. The man known as Jesus of Nazareth- whether you see him as God’s son, a rabbi or a prophet, or even a simple man, was an Israeli. Usually, those people’s skin is closer to Arabs, as far as I know.
Open you eyes: the worldwide Muslim community is NOT represented by a few dangerous fanatics like Ben Laden. Many Muslims are honest citizens who live a normal family life, just like you and me. They just happen to have different beliefs.
When will people realize that the main message of any religion is about love and tolerance. That’s what God is all about.
Moreover, take a look at Mr Bush’s shameful actions. The man some of you would qualify as a hero is the main responsible of a sad situation in Iraq where human rights are constantly denied:
« Flow like the blood of Abraham through the Jews and the Arabs
Broken apart like a woman’s heart, abused in a marriage
The brink of holy war, bottled up, like a miscarriage
Embedded correspondents don’t tell the source of the tension
And they refuse to even mention, European intervention
Or the massacres in Jenin, the innocent screams
U.S. manufactured missles, and M-16’s
Weapon contracts and corrupted American dreams
Media censorship, blocking out the video screens
A continent of oil kingdoms, bought for a bargain
Democracy is just a word, when the people are starvin’
The average citizen, made to be, blind to the reason
A desert full of genocide, where the bodies are freezin’
And the world doesn’t believe that you fightin’ for freedom
Cause you fucked the Middle East, and gave birth to a demon
It’s open season with the CIA, bugging my crib
Trapped in a ghetto region like a Palestinian kid
Where nobody gives a fuck whether you die or you live
I’m tryin’ to give the truth, and I know the price is my life
But when I’m gone they’ll sing a song about Immortal Technique
Who beheaded the President, and the princes and sheiks
You don’t give a fuck about us, I can see through your facade
Like a fallen angel standing in the presence of God
Bitch niggaz scared of the truth, when it looks at you hard… »
I don’t like Bush and I say it proudly. Bush is a monster who advocates a war for his own commercial interests. He doesn’t care about the young American lives that are taken during this worthless war, nor does he care about the numerous civilian victims among Iraqi people who are tortured and humiliated. Horrible things have been done in this country.
Let’s fight imperialism and a corporate America that wants people to think the way they are told to.
People are trying to mask Europe’s involvement in those atrocities.
Kids are dying, bodies are mutilated, the world is burning and nobody gives a fuck.
Let’s raise our voices against hypocritical media censorship. Let’s step into the right direction: let’s defend human rights above all.
Bush is the leader of a democracy of hypocrisy who has blood on his hands.
May God bless Immortal Technique in abundance for telling the truth to the world. America needs courageous people to stand up for what they believe in. Don’t accept collective brainwashing from a dictator who-obviously- doesn’t give a fuck about you and me.

Telling the truth…
that’s what hip hop is all about…I will comment on Immortal Technique’s Fourth Branch music video. Expect me to make some incisive comments against a corporate and racist White America!
