This is how I discovered James Blunt…

I didn’t find this artist on a website, nor did I see him on MTV. One day I was walking by in the streets downtown when I heard the song You’re Beautiful coming from a clothing shop. James Blunt’s voice attracted my attention. I found it deep, sensual and soft at the same time. Also, his song talked to my soul.
So I decided to hear it over and over again and to explore the artist a little bit more.Of course, James Blunt’s style is very different from the kind of music I am used to listen to. But I grant this artist some real talent. A real artist must manage to move people through his music and sounds and that’s exactly how I felt while listening to his soft piano and guitar sounds mixed up with an exceptional voice. Today I’d like to share my impressions about the You’re Beautiful song with you. I particularly like the way the song begins. It is like a human meeting a divine vision while guitars and piano sounds whisper to this man’s soul:

My life is brilliant. My love is pure. I saw an angel. Of that I’m sure. She smiled at me on the subway

When we manage to describe an other human as divine, it often means that we are deeply in love with that other person. Only deep love can make us envision the reflection of the divine. Heartbeats…feeling like a bird ready to fly to the heaven , the author describes the great love he feels inside. Maybe when the love we feel is inaccessible, it makes our feelings even more beautiful, pure and eternal. The beloved woman is with another man and his heart is bleeding. He realizes he will never be with her.

She was with another man. But I won’t lose no sleep on that, ‘Cause I’ve got a plan. You’re beautiful. You’re beautiful. You’re beautiful, it’s true. I saw you face in a crowded place, And I don’t know what to do, ‘Cause I’ll never be with you.

The beauty of the song is that this man will always keep the imprint of this beautiful divine face into his heart. Inaccessible, but eternal beauty. Find out more about James Blunt and explore the talented artist here.

Two new Solystic songs: My Sorrows and She Is Fly

Solystic is a raw young Detroit talent who definitely deserves a deal with a major label.
The 20 year old talented emcee, who comes up with an original style of his own, has a noticeable good flow delivery. His combination of good lyrical skills, good instrumentals and an impressive flow make of Solystic’s music a high quality pleasure to our ears.
My Sorrows start in a gentle way…picture an every day scene on a very soft instrumental background…suddenly drama drops into your life like pouring rain. Solystic’s rapid voice will make you feel the pain.
Reminiscent of the past, conflicts and messed up relationships, drama after drama, he keeps drowning his sorrow.
Globally, the song is beautiful work, instrumentally and lyrically. You can feel the emotions and the song’s rapid rhythm will make you enjoy this descent into hell.
She Is Fly is a song written on a softer theme. A rapid and a joyful rhythm will make you feel the hot atmosphere of a guy describing a fine sexy woman moving her body. Nice instrumentals and nice beats on that one too.
Globally, Solystic did a great job on both songs. I think they deserve 4 stars. Label owners and listeners, check out this young talent from Detroit.
He is really worth it.

Nas: a real big influence in hip hop

Nas is certainly one of the greatest mainstream rappers. His music has influenced a whole generation since the early 90’s.
Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones was born on September the 14th, 1973, in NYC.
Man of many aliases, also known as Nas, Nas Escobar, Nasty Nas, God’s son and Nastradamus.
Music has always been part of his life since his early years
Nasir Jones is the son of trumpeter Olu Dara. As a kid Nas wanted to be an instrumentalist, like his dad. However, he changed his mind as a preteen and decided to pursue a career as a rapper.
Nas dropped out of school in the 8 th grade and started peddling drugs in the street. Nas is quite an autodidact: during this time, he educated himself, spending some time in studying African culture and civilization, the Holy Qu’ran and the Bible. Nas’ work is fulfilled with references to African culture and spirituality and that’s the beauty of it.
Many of Nas’ video are very educative about black history and it also reinforces black people’s feeling of pride about their history and African American’s African roots.
Focused on a rap career, Nas started collaborating with his best friend and neighbor, Willie “Ill Will” Graham who became his DJ.
Ill Will met hip hop producer Large Professor who introduced Nas to his group, Main Source.
Rap Career
In 1991, Nas started collaborating with Main Source and his verse was featured on their album, Breaking Atoms.
Nas’ lyrical skills would soon impress the hip hop community and he earned some real underground credibility.
Nas and Willie Graham were working together when on May the 23rd, 1992, a bad drama happened in Nas’ life: his friend Willie would be gunned down in Queensbridge.
Mc Serch of 3rd Bass then became Nas’ manager. Nas would get a record deal with Columbia Records.
Nas was featured on MC Serch Halftime single from the artist’s soundtrack.
In 1994, Nas would release his first record, Illmatic. Illmatic contained numerous references to Tony Montana
Illmatic was acclaimed as a masterpiece of works by the critics.
In 1996, Nas’ second album, It Was Written came out. In this album, Nas came up the Nas Escobar character in reference to Columbian drug dealer Pablo Escobar.
In 1999, Nas released a double album called I Am…The Autobiography.
A video was shot for Nas’ first single « Nas Is Like » and Dj Premier produced the video. The same year, Nas also released another album, Nastradamus.
Nas vs. Jay Z
The well known Nas/ Jay Z rivalry started as Jay Z’s protégé, Memphis Bleek released a song called « Memphis Bleek Is » literally using Nas’ concept. Therefore, Nas dissed Memphis Bleek on his Nastradamus album. As a response Memphis Bleek would diss him on his Understanding LP.
In 2000, QB’s Finest came out, followed by Stillmatic in 2001.
The beef with Jay Z and fellows went on, since Nas called his rival out on his compilation Cd, QB’s Finest.
Jay Z would respond at his 97 HotSummer Jam concert in 2001 in NYC with his song « Takeover » that was originally a Mobb Depp diss.
Nas showed some teeth with his Stillmatic Freestyle in which he attacked Jay Z and his Rock a Fella label.
On his Blueprint album, Jay Z rewrote his Takeover song and stated that Illmatic was Nas’ only valuable album.
Nas would attack Jay Z on the second track of his Stillmatic album with the song Ether, an incisive response to his big rap rival.
In fact, Nas reproached his rival Jay Z to bite his style. Nas also accuse him of copying Notorious Big’s lyrics.
Nas also made some fun of Jay Z, claiming that « Eminem had murdered him on his own shit », referring to his collaboration with Eminem on the Renegade song on his Blue print album.
Ether received a response with Jay Z’s Supa Ugly freestyle, trying to ridicule Nas on private details of his life.
Both rapper’s beef would eventually be squashed in 2005 at Jay Z’s I declare War concert where Nas joined him on stage.
In 2002, Nas released The Lost Tapes, a collection of underground Nas songs and his wonderful God’s Son album.
The singles Made You Look and I Can soon became major hits.
On November 2004, Nas released Street’s Disciple, a double album that includes masterpieces such as Thief’s Theme and Bridging The Gap.
I particularly recommend to my readers to watch the video to Bridging The Gap on Nas’s official website.
It is a beautiful mixture of blues, jazz and rap and a wonderful dad and son collaboration that won’t leave black music lovers indifferent. Nas put his heart and soul into this track.
Nas recently collaborated with Kanye West and appeared on Damian Marley’s album.
Beef with 50 Cent
During on of his concerts in NYC, Nas expressed about 50’s Cent music:
« This is the real shit, not that 50 Cent shit »
50 cent dissed Nas’ wife Kelis on the Piggy Bank track and Nas retaliated with his track “Don’t Body Ya Self (MC Burial)”, which is a stab at 50 Cent and his G Unit crew.
Nas’ upcoming album is due to release in mid 2006.
Check this extraordinary emcee called Nas if you haven’t done it yet.

Writers, do you know that you are like the well that never runs dry?

Spiritual people usually refer to God as the well that never runs dry. I always liked this metaphor, because it reminds me of the infinite possibilities that are given to our mind, particularly when we do possess a gift that involves lots of creativity- like writing for instance.
If we picture our Creator as infinite, we should know that God has given us the possibility to use our creativity in an infinite variety of ways.
In fact, a writer who writes with passion should never fear the blank page. Usually when you think that your resources are totally exhausted, you have just closed one single chapter. Even when you know you subject well, stay humble with the knowledge you have: there will always remain things you ignore on your favorite subjects.
Be aware of your ignorance and use your ignorance to do some more research. Also have a look at other people’s work on subject matters that passionate you. Learn from their knowledge and explore the paths they haven’t. You will soon discover that you are able to build more and more resources and to get deeper into a subject that you thought you knew well.
Thats what I actually do and I came to the conclusion that the more I knew on a subject, the less I knew about it.
A call to stay humble? Certainly yes. However, it is much more an encouragement for us to see that we can discover more and that the more we drink, the more water we will get from our well of knowledge.
Be passionate about things you like, and you will never lack inspiration.
My haters say that I am obsessed. Yes today I confess it publicly: I am obsessed. Obsessed with Eminem, Detroit and Michigan rap, mainstream and underground hip hop, soul, blues and jazzy tracks. Globally I am obsessed with black music and any kind of music that talks to my soul.
The difference between my low key haters and me is that I do transform this obsession into something positive like musical emotions put on paper while many of my haters spend their time fantasizing about one single man better known as Eminem.
But I digress. Im not here to discuss about uncreative people who waste most of their time with some empty dreams. I am here to share my passion with my fellow writers and people who feel the same.
Writers, keep the flame alive inside of you and your inspiration will never end. Blank pages? Fuck blank pages! They are made to get filled with ink!
Next time you will fear the blank pages, read those few words aimed at you and you will remain unstoppable and unbeatable.
Use God’s gift: it is infinite.

Eminem wed while cancer stricken mother was bed ridden (contactmusic article)

LATEST: Rapper EMINEM re-married his ex-wife KIM MATHERS on Saturday (14JAN06) while his sick mother, DEBBIE NELSON, stayed in bed, heartbroken that she hadn’t been invited to the ceremony.
The 8 MILE star was keen to create a stable family life for his daughter HAILIE and patch things up with his ex, but continues to remain estranged from his mother who is battling lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes.
Eminem’s maternal grandmother, BETTY KRESIN, says, “If Marshall (Eminem) had invited Debbie, she would have used any means in her power to get there.”
Instead of watching her son tie the knot, Kresin says, Debbie stayed at home “weak and asleep”.
Kim Mathers walked down the aisle to a piano rendition of Eminem’s song MOCKINGBIRD in an ivory, strapless wedding gown by British designer JENNY PACKHAM, a favourite designer of MARIAH CAREY and NICOLE KIDMAN

Miz Korona, the “Laila Ali of rap”, representing the D

Most people know her as « Vanessa » in the 8 Mile movie. However, Miz Korona’s passion for rap music goes back to her teenage years.
Miz Korona wrote her first song after listening to Run DMC. She always kept the flame of her passion alive and kept rhyming.
First going by the nickname Pimpette, that was maybe too common and also too much connected to gangsta rap, the talented rapper changed it to Miz Korona.
Curious to know how she found her new nickname? This is the story behind the Miz Korona nickname:
«  “I was rhymin’ with this guy I know in a store on Harper and Nottingham,” she says. “We were in the back, in the cooler. And I saw the Corona (beer). The name kept clicking in my head, so I said ‘I’m a try to place this in a rhyme.’ One day, something told me to look it up, and the definition captured me. I was like, ‘Man, this is my new name. »
Miz Korona’s nickname might be connected with the Corona beer, but it is written with a « K ».
Miz Korona has started recording a song called « Psychodelic » in 1994 with Slum Lowa. Miz Korona has collaborated with many local Detroit artists and the D remains her main source of inspiration.
Brilliant and subtle lyricist, Miz Korona comes up with an energetic and offensive style. She is taking over with her raw voice and rhythmic instrumentals. She is one of those female emcees who spit fire and who conquer their audience in no time.
Enjoy her poweful I’m back song exposed on her my space account.
Scratches, keyboard sounds combined with electric guitars give Miz Korona’s voice a particular and spicy taste. Let her conquer the world of Michigan hip hop and impress you with her incredible and undeniable skills.
Rock On and I Don’t Know are written in the same energetic style; Miz Korona flows like a hurricane, ready to devastate you with her skills and offensiveness. All three tracks are very much enjoyable.
Among very valuable Detroit females emcees like Kameil Madison, Reddbone, Hysteria , Nina Da Pimp, Miz Korona is probably one of the illest female emcees representing the D.
Check out the « Laila Ali of rap » here.
No doubt she will amaze you!

Honestly, this pic looks a little bit strange to me…I don’t recognize Kim on it (i have seen her with brown hair on former pics, but her face looks so much different), so I gotta make it sure this is not a fake pic…I will keep you updated…
I found another version of this pic and to me it looks like a montage… maybe I’m wrong, but i hope we will find out about the truth:
