It is never too late to break the circle

We can break the cycle
‘ Our parents don’t approve of our music and when they were teenagers, their parents didn’t like their music. It’s a cycle ‘, a teenager once told to a local newspaper.
Maybe true, but the cycle can be broken. How ? Simply by introducing more dialogue, more tolerance and more humor between parents and children and adults and kids in general. Teachers have also a great role to play in that way. They could introduce more current subjects. Kids are sometimes so annoyed by old fashioned teachers who keep talking about artists who used to live in the 17th century. Teenagers would certainly feel more respected if some teachers introduced from time to time a contemporary subject that corresponds to their tastes. Some teachers need to be re-educated, so to say. They seem to ignore that there is a lot to learn from kids. They are often disgusted by the music that pleases teenagers, because they have a very superficial look at it.
One of my eldest kid’s teacher made a comment on 8 Mile out of ignorance. She said in front of the whole class that Eminem had always been very rich and the whole class started laughing.
Many people don’t dare having an objective look at hip hop culture, because they are totally afraid of it. Hip hop refers to ghetto culture and values. As well as you cannot dissociate grafittis from ghetto, you cannot separate it from rap music. Hip hop and gangsta rap is deranging to many parents and teachers because of the many cusswords and references to guns and drugs it contains.
But adults need to look further. They need to discover the beauty and the poetry of street culture that is hidden behind the rough words. They need to discover the beauty of the beats and the rythms. But what they need most is a sense of humor to understand what makes their kids laugh crazy.
A better mutual understanding between adults and kids, a better acceptance of our teenagers’ tastes will help us to break the cycle. It is possible. My eldest son and me have broken it. We both listen to the same kind of music and it has improved our relationship for a great part. It is never to late to open our mind’

Brittany Murphy speaks out about Eminem

The actress Brittany Murphy who has played Jimmy Smith’s love interest in 8 Mile has come closer to Eminem than many women will ever come. She has spent a lot of time working with him on the great movie. She is one of the persons who will make you understand that Marshall is a real nice person. In an interview given to TV guide online, the actress described Marshall as an honest and loveable person:
“He’s great. I adore him so far,he’s a good person. He’s an honest person and he’s funny and talented – and really lovely to be around.”
Brittany has even been more than just Eminem’s love interest Alex in 8 Mile, she has also been his girlfriend:
“We became very close.”
At the time they played the hot scene between Alex and Jimmy, Brittany first didn’t realize how much she liked him:
“(At the time) I didn’t realize that I liked him like that. I was very nervous about it. “
Brittany Murphy can testify that Marshall always treated her respectfully while playing their love scene:
“He’s actually the most respectful person that I ever had a love scene with.
“It’s an extremely raunchy scene. It could have been an awful experience, but instead it was a very private, on a very closed set.
“Marshall was so overwhelmingly respectful; he didn’t make dumb jokes as guys sometimes do when they’re nervous on set. He didn’t make me feel uncomfortable in any way.”
I
t is time for his detractors to realize that Marshall isn’t a women hater, but a regular and sensitive man in real life. The women who have dated Marshall will confirm that he has treated them as a gentleman. Marshall may have deep wound because two women (Debbie and Kim) have hurt him a lot, but he is not against women in general.
“To me, he was Marshall. He’s a family man, an extraordinary worker and gives everything to his daughter. He’s one of the hardest working, determined, brilliant people that I have ever met in my life and I think that it’s great that the world is getting to know different sides of him. He’s constantly been judged for what he says, tongue in cheek, and finally people are realizing a lot more about him which is great.’ (Brittany Murphy)
Marshall is a hard working man, he’s brilliant, he is aso a devoted father to his daughter.
Brittany and Marshall were involved in a serious relationship. Brittany Murphy has stated on MTV that she has dated Eminem.
It has been rumored that she faked a panic attack at a party and that eminem dumped after that event.
Both are still in good terms and still in touch with each o

Slim shady and his crew go on war against censorship in music

In the D12 song “Rap Game”, Eminem disses Dolores Tucker and Lynn Cheney a bad way. None of both women will be able to escape to Eminem’s bullets and Slim Shady drives them mad on purpose. Slim Shady and his fellows have started a war with no mercy against corporatist censorship. Why ? Because people like Delores Tucker and Lynn Cheney want to force people how to think and how to act. Lynn Cheney’s concept of political correctness, for instance, is useless, as far as I am concerned.
Delores Tucker has started a holy crusade against gangsta rap, because she thinks gangsta rap attacks vulnerable groups of people. And she dares making a parallel with Jewish people :
http://wcommand.hypermart.net/headlines/293.html
You will learn more about her on this website:
http://www.hitemup.com/news/printit.cgi?id=EpFuykuAkuBQsWSjHp
Mrs Tucker is not afraid of a public exposure of her sexual life and she claims Tupac ruined her sex life :
http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0%2C1%2C1539%2C00.html
Gangsta rap is so often attacked by the same kind of (rich) conservative and religious integrists who live their comfortable lives and have no idea of the reality of the neighborhoods.
Gangsta rap is reflection of real life. Conservative people usually prefer to hide reality for their own benefits. They are totally blind to the message contained in gangsta rap. They spend their whole time in their comfortable offices while Blacks get humiliated and killed by the police. They ignore underground people’s allday difficulties, pain and misery, they do as if white trash people didn’t exist. The ‘ American Dream ‘ is demented by the people they despise.
Eminem, the ‘ white menace of America ‘ is here to piss them off, again and again. His engagement and his loyalty towards black people deserve a lot of admiration. Marshall helps white people from the suburbs to understand ghetto life and black people’s pain. White America needed a true spokesman.
Engagement is important in a society in which human rights are constantly denied. Shutting down political rappers endangers our freedom of speech and thus, our fundamental rights.
About Delores Tucker, Eminem says in ‘ Rap Game ‘ :
‘ I’m all for America, fuck the government
Tell that C. Delores Tucker slut to suck a dick’ ‘

The Bush administration doesn’t get the lyrics of gangsta rap, it’s obvious. Slang isn’t really familiar to them. Eminem’s recent song ‘ We As Americans ‘ has been so misunderstood that the FBI investigated if Eminem was a real threat for president Bush’s life. Just because the Bush administration didn’t get the slang term ‘ dead President ‘ which is a metaphor for ‘ money ‘. How far should we push stupidity ?
In the same ‘ Rap Game ‘ song, Bizarre makes fun of people who want to censor music for kids :
‘ My little girl, she shouldn’t listen to these lyrics
That’s why I glued her headphones to her ear to make sure she hear it’ ‘

What is Bizarre trying to say ? Probably the same thing than Eminem in ‘ Who Knew ‘ :
‘ Get aware, wake up, get a sense of humor
Quit tryin to censor music, this is for your kid’s amusement’ ‘

People like Delores Tucker are trying to censor artists like Snoop Dogg, Tupac and Marilyn Manson. Eminem is also her target. She even called him ‘ the reincarnation of Tupac ‘. Tupac that she hates and despises.
Hip hop is always getting censored by people who have no idea of what is going on in the ghetto. People who have never suffered and ‘ who have no idea what is like to be broke as a fuck ‘. The same people who have everything want to shut down the voice of people who have nothing at all and whose life is a constant struggle.
Hip hop is the voice of oppressed black people, hip hop is the fight for more justice. Rap music has helped a lot for a better understanding of black people and has improved interracial relations between people. Men like Eminem have also contributed to that task for a large part.
Don’t censor music. Don’t censor the artists. They will keep on

The Infinite song

The Infinite song reveals the creative skills of a talented MC who represents the 313. The Infinite album may have been unsuccessful, but it already shows Eminem’s creativity.
The Infinite song in particular is a well written song. The Infinite album was released in 1996. Eminem’s first album didn’t please a great majority of people, although it is lyrically excellent : in fact Eminem was often accused of sounding like Nas or Jay-Z.
He stated it in the iCast interview, Eminem was about 14 years old when he started rapping and writing his rhymes.
‘ I was about nine when I started listening to rap. I started rapping, writing my own rhymes about fourteen, fifteen and just kept getting better at it. ‘
Which proves that Marshall has great experience behind him. He’s also known as a bookworm who is capable of spending hours reading the dictionary in order to find some words to rhyme. Even his biggests opponents admit that Marshall has a sophisticated rhyming style.
Eminem has managed to impress the Bass brothers for his great rhyming ability since he was 15. Maybe the Infinite song isn’t technically as good as his later songs, but the rhymes are impressing, though.
Watching the scene of 8 Mile where you can see Jimmy Rabbit composes ‘ Lose Yourself ‘ makes you travel into the mind of the composer of the Infinite song. You got the same impression of pen and paper having a chain reaction when you see Rabbit using each corner of the paper sheet, the whole paper sheet is full of writings.
Eminem talks about his writing process in his former iCast interview :
‘ No, my writing process is basically, I don’t try to sit down and think of shit. I let the thoughts pop into my head, and then I write them down. I let it come natural. It’s not something that I try to search for. I gotta let the stuff– throughout the course of my day, I might find like six to twelve ideas. And then just jot them down and at the end of the week or the end of two weeks or whatever, I stack my ideas up and then I write a rhyme. ‘
Never has it been that easy to travel through the mind of a lyrical genius than with Eminem. Because he takes you with him during his journey, he wants you to feel what he feels.
At the time Eminem wrote his Infinite song, he was in competition with other rappers who didn’t have half of his skills and who were successful.
Those frustrations are also visible in ‘ If I had ‘ :
‘ ‘Tired of other rappers who ain’t bringin half the skill as me
saying they wasn’t feeling me when nobody’s as ill as me’ ‘

You could barely deny the beauty of Eminem’s rhymes when you read those lines of ‘ Infinite ‘ :
“I travel through your mind until you spine like siren drills
I’m sliming grills of roaches, with sprayed on disinfectants
With some ex rappers till their spinal column disconnects
We disinfect then check the monologue, turn your system up
Twist them up, and indulge in the marijuana smoke
This is the season for noise pollution contamination
Examination of more cartoons than animation
My lamination of narration
Hit’s a snare and bass of track fucked up rapper interrogation
When I declare invasion, there ain’t no time to be stare and gazing
I turn the stage into a barren wasteland…
I’m Infinite…”

Eminem has always been a fighter who was determined to win the battles against his opponents. He knows that he cannot fail when he invades the stage :
‘When I declare invasion, there ain’t no time to be stare and gazing
I turn the stage into a barren wasteland…
I’m Infinite…’

Eminem knows by instinct how to captivate his audience. All the people who have seen him performing know that he’s got a lot of charisma. He manages to captivate a huge audience, to make them feel the way he feels. He brings some magic into his show.
His strength as a brilliant MC is expressed in the second verse of the song :
‘Bust it, I let the beat commence so I can beat the sense of your elite
defense
I got to meet the fence fruit was stompin at your feet to rinse
I greet intensive ladies, I spoil all your fans
I foil plans and leave fluids leaking like oil bands
My coil hands around this microphone lethal
One thought in my cerebral is deeper then a Jeep full of people
MC’s are feeble, I came to cause some pandemonium
Battle a band of phony MC’s and stand the only one
Imitator, Intimidator, Stimulator, Simulator of data, Eliminator
There’s never been a greater since the burial of Jesus
Fuck around and catch all of the venereal diseases
My thesis will smash a stereo to pieces
My accapella releases plastic masterpieces through telekinesis
And eases you mentally, gently, sentimentally, instrumentally
With entity, dementedly meant to be Infinite…’

The chorus is full of humor. The MC who was sentenced for ‘murdering some instruments’ will be caught killing the alphabet in the Slim Shady LP:
I can’t rap anymore – I just murdered the alphabet’ ‘ (Still Don’t Give A Fuck ‘)
The only difference is that he won’t show any sign of repentance in his next album, since the creation of Slim Shady…
Eminem’s metaphors make you penetrate in the mind of a great poet. Much more extraordinary is his use of similar sounding words and the way he assembles them:
‘No one is speacialer, My skill is intergalactical
I get cynical at a fool then I send a crew back to school
I never packed a tool or acted cool, it wasn’t practical
I’d rather led a tactful, tractical, track for your fancy
In fact I can’t see, or can’t imagine…’

The Infinite song lyrics may be less known, even among Eminem’s fans, but they deserve a lot of admiration. They are well written. It is difficult to explain why the Infinite album didn’t sell well. But the main reasons cannot been found in the quality of the lyrics. Maybe the sound quality wasn’t that good and its unsuccess must probably due to technical reasons. In the meantime, Eminem has, of course, improved a lot of things. But who could deny he had great lyricals skills since the beginning?
“Infinite”
Oh yeah, this is Eminem baby, back up in that motherfucking ass
One time for your mother fucking mind, we represent the 313
You know what I’m saying?, cause they don’t know shit about this
For the 9-6
Verse 1:
Ayo, my pen and paper cause a chain reaction
To get your brain relaxin, cause they be actin maniac in action
A brainiac in fact son, you mainly lack attraction
You looking zany whack with just a fraction of my tracks spun
My rhyming skills got you climbing hills
I travel through your mind until you spine like siren drills
I’m sliming grills of roaches, with sprayed on disinfectants
With some ex rappers till their spinal column disconnects
We disinfect then check the monologue, turn your system up
Twist them up, and indulge in the marijuana smoke

My lamination of narration
Hit’s a snare and bass of track fucked up rapper interrogation
When I declare invasion, there ain’t no time to be stare and gazing
I turn the stage into a barren wasteland…
I’m Infinite
Chorus:
You heard of hell well I was sent from it
I went to it’s surface and sentenced for murdering instruments
Now I’m trying to repent from it
But when I hear the beat I’m tempted to make another attempt at it…
I’m Infinite
Verse 2:
Bust it, I let the beat commence so I can beat the sense of your elite

I went to it’s surface and sentenced for murdering instruments
Now I’m trying to repent from it
But when I hear the beat I’m tempted to make another attempt at it…
I’m Infinite
Verse 3:
Man I got evidence I’m never dense and I been clever ever since
My residence was hesitant to do some shit that represents the M-O
So I’m assuming all responsibility
Cause there’s a monster will in me that always wants to kill MC’s
Mic messaler, slamming like a wrestler
Here to make a mess of a lyric smuggling embezzler
No one is speacialer, My skill is intergalactical
I get cynical at a fool then I send a crew back to school
I never packed a tool or acted cool, it wasn’t practical
I’d rather led a tactful, tractical, track for your fancy
In fact I can’t see, or can’t imagine
A man who ain’t a lover of beats or a fan of scratching
This is for my family, the kid who had a cameo on my last jam
Plus the man who never had a plan B
Be all you can be, cause once you make an instant hit
I’m tense to be tempted when I see the sins my friends commit…
I’m Infinite
Chorus:
You heard of hell well I was sent from it
I went to it’s surface and sentenced for murdering instruments
Now I’m trying to repent from it
But when I hear the beat I’m tempted to make another attempt at it…
I’m Infinite
You heard of hell well I was sent from it
I went to it’s surface and sentenced for murdering instruments
Now I’m trying to repent from it
But when I hear the beat I’m tempted to make another attempt at it…
I’m Infinite

Say Goodbye to Hollywood

‘ Say Goodbye to Hollywood ‘ is a song that Eminem has dedicated to his fans. A song that expresses the sour aftertaste of fame. A song in which he offers us a retrospective of the drama that happened when he caught Kim cheating with John Guerra. An incident that still hurts him, but that also helped him to become more mature. Eminem has understood a lot through his mistakes. He has understood that he could lose everything if he was put in jail. He didn’t want Hailie to suffer from his own mistakes and he decided to slow down :
“I need to slow down
Try to get my feet on solid ground, so for now I’m…”

In the first verse Eminem mentions his friend Gary who was arrested the same day :
‘ Turned around saw Gary stashin’ the heater in his belt
Saw the bouncers rush him and beat him to the ground’ ‘

Gary Kozlowski drove Eminem to the club and he picked up his gun after it had dropped to the gound. No charges were filed against Gary.
Detroit DJ ‘DJ Butter ‘, Barry Yett, a friend of Marshall said about the former incident opposing Eminem to John Guerra :
“Em’s not a violent guy; he’s just on top of the world right now and people are trying to bring him down. You’ve got to think about how scary his life is right now. Too scary to not have a gun — he has stalkers, people dropping by his house — he’s got all that. He doesn’t have a public or a private life anymore.”
In the second verse, Marshall shares his anxiousness with his fans. Since the beginning of his career, he’s been through a lot of difficult situations like the incident with John Guerra, he also had to face several lawsuits.
In addition to those negative events, Marshall had to face a lot of pressure from the media, from his labels, from some annoying fans, which is very much to bear for one single man. Eminem expresses that life’s greatest gift for him is his daughter Hailie.
Sometimes, Eminem feels weak and discouraged. Sometimes he is fed up with the show business. His fame is sometimes difficult to face with, and he sometimes wishes he could escape to the public exposure of his privacy :
“For me to have this much appeal like this is sick
This is not a game, this fame, in real life this is sick
Publicity stunt my ass, conceal my fuckin’ dick
Fuck the guns, i’m done, i’ll never look at gats…”

Marshall talks to his fans in his song and he addresses them a message : he wants tham to know that he loves them ( his fans, particularly those who had the chance to see him on stage, know that those words are a 100 % true.)
Marshall loves his fans and his fans love him too. But he also wants them to realize how much he sacrificed for them. He wants his fans to acknoledge that his life is sometimes living hell for him. He has to hide his hair and his face to keep anonymous. Hailie sometimes also suffers from her daddy’s fame, she sometimes gets annoyed by people. Her life is exposed as well as Marshall’s.
Marshall wants his fans to know that it is sometimes too much for him. It is also a strong appeal for them to respect his privacy. Somebody has told me that he didn’t like ‘ The Way I Am ‘ because ‘ this song was dissing fans ‘. I don’t agree with this person at all. In ‘ The Way I Am ‘ as well as in ‘ Say Goodbye To Hollywood ‘, Eminem’s feelings come out of his chest. Happiness as well as pain and anger are feelings he shares with us.
And when he’s exceeded by some fans’ crazy behavior, Eminem is not afraid to tell it.
When he used to live in Sterling Heights, he was bothered all the time. That’s why he made up his decision to move to Clinton Township (before buying his mansion in Oakland county). Marc Hicks explains how disrespectful some people were in the past and the reasons that motivated him to move to Clinton Township :
“I guess because of the fans. He couldn’t pick up a newspaper off his porch. You had people that would take cargo vans and act like they were delivering a package to meet Eminem. You had people jumping in the swimming pool.
“He loves his fans but my God!”

The media have made a God out of him. Marshall wasn’t prepared to all that. He also stated that global fame scares him and that he never expected to get that big.
It’s high time some fans realized Marshall Mathers is a human being who uses the bathroom too. He has the honesty to expose his weaknesses to his public and he deserves a lot of respect for that.
If he could go back, he would never have rapped. But now that he’s in the rap game, we don’t want him to quit. Because he’s so good at what he’s doing.
Keep on rapping Marshall, it would feel so empty without you anyway !
“Say Goodbye Hollywood”
[Chorus]
Sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
Sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
Sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
Sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
{Hollywood}, sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
{Why do I feel this way}, sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
Sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
Sayin’ goodbye, sayin’ goodbye to Hollywood
[Verse 1]
I thought I had it all figured out, I did
I thought I was tough enough to stick it out with Kim
But I wasn’t tough enough to juggle two things at once
I found myself layin’ on my knees in cuffs
Which should’ve been a reason enough, for me to get my stuff and just leave
How come I couldn’t see this shit myself, it’s just me
Nobody couldn’t see the shit I felt
Knowin’ damn well she wasn’t gonna be there when I fell, to catch me
The minute shit was heated she just bailed
i’m standin’ here swingin’ on like thirty people by myself
I couldn’t even see the millimetere when it fell
Turned around saw Gary stashin’ the heater in his belt
Saw the bouncers rush him and beat him to the ground
I just sold two million records, I don’t need to go to jail
I’m not about to lose my freedom over no female
I need to slow down
Try to get my feet on solid ground, so for now i’m…
[CHORUS]
[Verse 2]
Bury my face in comic books, cause I don’t want to look
At nothin’, this world’s too much
I’ve swallowed all I could
If I could swallow a bottle of tylenol I would, and end it for good
Just say goodbye to Hollywood
I probably should, these problems are piling all at once
Cause everything that bothers me, I got it bottled up
I think i’m bottomin’ out
But i’m not about to give up, I gotta get up
Thank God, I got a little girl
And I’m a responsible father
So not a lot of good, i’d be to my daughter layin’ in the bottom of the mud
Must be in my blood cause I don’t know how I do it
All I know is I don’t want to follow in the footsteps of my dad
Cause I hate him so bad
The worst fear that I had was growin’ up to be like his fuckin’ ass, man
If you could understand why I am the way that I am
What do I say to my fans, when I tell ’em i’m…
[CHORUS]
[Verse 3]
I don’t wanna quit, but shit, I feel like this is it
For me to have this much appeal like this is sick
This is not a game, this fame, in real life this is sick
Publicity stunt my ass, conceal my fuckin’ dick
Fuck the guns, i’m done, i’ll never look at gats
If I scrap, i’ll scrap like I ain’t never whooped some ass
I love my fans
But no one ever puts a grasp on the fact i’ve sacrificed everything I have
I never dreamt i’d get to the level that i’m at, this is whack
This is more than I ever could of asked
everywhere I go, a hat, a sweater hood, or mask
What about math, how come I wasn’t ever good at that
It’s like the boy in the bubble, who never could adapt, i’m trapped
If I could go back, I never woulda rapped
I sold my soul to the devil, i’ll never get it back
I just wanna leave this game with level head intact
Imagine goin’ from bein’ a no one to seein’,
everything blow up and all you did was just grow
up emceeing
It’s fuckin’ crazy
Cause all I wanted was to give Hailie the life I never had
But instead I forced us to live alienated, so i’m sayin’…
[CHORUS]
[Outro]
Goodbye, goodbye Hollywood, {Goodbye},
please don’t cry for me, when i’m gone for good, {this shit is not for me},
so goodbye, goodbye Hollywood,
{i’m not a fuckin’ star}, please don’t cry
for me, when I’m gone for good, {i’m goin’ back home}…

Square Dance

Eminem is a political rapper and Square Dance is a political song. After the release of the Eminem Show, Slim Shady is back and ready to piss off the Bush administration. Square Dance has an ill rythm and something chaotic inside of it. It makes you feel the world disorder. Although the song has some funny parts, it contains a serious message. It is a clear protest against President Bush’s policy.
The events of September the 11th have been a great trauma in many people’s minds. Eminem’s political songs do not only picture a scary reality, they are also visionary song. They envision the young generation that is so fed up with governmental lies and that is in total opposition to the conservative right in America. A new generation of people who want to fight for the right to say what they like has found their rightful leader in Marshall:
“The boogies monster of rap
Yeah the man’s back
With a plan to ambush this Bush administration
Mush the Senates face in and push this generation
Of kids to stand and fight for the right to say something you might not like…”

In a very insightful article, Al Gordiano has analized Eminem’s political impact after September the 11th :
http://www.narconews.com/eminem1.html
Eminem has some criticism to offer to President Bush. He dislikes his anti terror policy that will lead to many young innocent soldiers’ death:
“All this terror America demands action
Next thing you know you’ve got Uncle Sams ass askin
To join the army or what you’ll do for there Navy
You just a baby
Gettin’ recruited at eighteen
You’re on a plane now
Eatin their food and their baked beans …”

Who wouldn’t dislike advertisements like ‘I kissed my son goodbye’, which sounds like an encouragement to let the state kill our sons?
How many victims has Bush’s worthless war actually made? Eminem wants us to seriously think about it. Some conservative Americans consider people who are opposed to the Iraqui war as traitors and anti patriotic people.
Many people have protested against the Iraqui war in 2003:
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1469754/02052003/id_0.jhtml
We need to separate truth from hypocrisy. I wouldn’t like my kids to die in order to satisfy Bush’s great hegemony will.
But there is something else Eminem teaches us through his song. So many people have suffered from the consequences of September the 11th like the growing insecurity. Eminem’s message also appears to be the best therapy. He wants to tell people: ‘the world is going down in its madness, now won’t you just forget about it for one second and square dance with me?’
The best way to overcome those events is a distanciation of the drama.
The best victory is to manage to laugh instead of being worried. Leave your sorrows for one second and square dance with Marshall:
“The whole point in square dance was like, fuck everything that’s going on in the world right now and square dance with me.”
Eminem is an artist. In the Hebrew language, the word “oman” (artist) contains the root of the word “emet” (truth). According to the same language, the artist is ‘by definition- repesentative of the truth. Believe it or not, Eminem accomplishes this role very well. He is the representative of a new generation of “Emericans” who stand for the right of their freedom of speech.

Hailie, a power girl

The story posted on the following website has attracted my attention recently :
http://www.clubid.nl/clubs.php?clubid=1916
During Eminem’s recent European tour 2003, Hailie had to face a very difficult situation. Her mom had been arrested for cocaine possession and Kim was making the headlines of the media.
Although Eminem is trying to avoid Hailie’s exposure to the public’s eye, she is sometimes confronted to difficult situations, like Kim’s recent problems. Which is sometimes difficult to bear for a 8 years old little girl. Too much pressure on a little girl’s shoulders.
Another kid insulting Kim when Hailie didn’t even know the meaning of the charges she was facing. Hailie went crazy and acted in an abnormal ( but understandable) way.
It is sometimes really shocking to see how kids can be mean to other kids but the main responsibles are the media.
Unfortunately, Eminem was on tour when this event happened. He had to face
difficult issues while being on tour all due to Kim’s irresponsible behavior ( read topic of June the 18 th). He feared to lose Hailie and Whitney (who lives with him too) at the same time :

Marshall is doing his best for his daughter to live a fairly normal life. He refused to access Kim’s desire to take an agent for Hailie. He wants her to live a normal childhood. As normal as his fame allows it :

Marshall is a wonderful and dedicated daddy to his daughter who takes his role as a father very seriously :
‘ I’m a father before anything. I’m a father before I pick up the mic. I’m a father before I’m Eminem. ‘
Hailie knows that she can count on him any time. Even when he is not physically present, she can be sure that his first thoughts are for ‘ the only lady he adores ‘.
Even if Hailie has to face with the trouble of fame, she has shown a strong personality like her father. She is not ready to let people trash her without retaliating. That’s why psychologists shouldn’t worry so much about her. Psychologists seem to ignore that the more we weaken kids, the weaker they are.
Hailie may have to face some difficulties, but just like her dad, she’s got character. She’s a power girl who has already defeated Ja Rule.
