Busy times…

Dear readers,

I haven’t been able to post much stuff lately. It is due to an incredibly busy schedule. Doesn’t mean I’m not interested in writing, though. My passion for writing and the music in general are pretty much alive! I’m just asking you for a little bit patience, I will post some new articles as soon as I can:)

Love,

Isabelle

Le Diner De Cons is certainly one of the best, most hilarious French comedies. Whether you want to be entertained or you’re feeling on the low, Francis Veber’s film will make you laugh from the beginning to the end.

Pierre Brochant, ( brilliantly interpreted by Thierry L’Hermite), who works as an editor in Paris, has one of the weirdest hobbies you could find: during his sparetime, he and his snobbish friends organize dinners during which a bunch of chosen stupid people expose their passions. Of course, the chosen “idiots” have no idea about what is going on. At the end of the dinner, the king of the morons gets ” crowned” by Brochant and his friends.

This is how Francois Pignon ( remarkably played by Jacques Villeret), an accountant of the finance ministry enters into Pierre Brochant’s life. He is the perfect ” king of the morons to be”, at least in Pierre Brochant’s eyes. His passions for matchstick models is supposed to entertain Pierre and his rich friends at an organized dinner, along with a whole bunch of other ” idiots”. But things don’t work out as expected…and Francois Pignon is causing more chaos than expected.

Enjoy the freshness of the comedy, the clever play of actors such as Francis Huster and Daniel Prevost, the touch of human drama with Alexandra Vandernoot and Catherine Frot, laugh out loud at Francois Pignon’s stupidity.

Don’t rely on the English translation ( it is full of mistakes), rather catch the comedy’s funny French spirit. My advice: watch the movie in French, you won’t regret it!

original post TR Shady…credit to Mr Rahul for giving me the update:)

-Where was Marshall 15 years ago?

I was about 19. I was following Proof to a bunch of clubs and trying to get on.

-What was ur original dream?

To be a comic book artist.

-Were u obsessed with Spawn creator Todd McFarlane?

I like McFarlae. But i was more into John Romito Jr. Spider Man was my shit!I use to site around and draw all the covers. Im good at freehandingbut im no good at coming up with drawing out of my imagination.

-Most original person u ever met?

Proof

-Proof had immense influence on u. Who were some others?

LL Cool J was probably the first that I really wanted to be like. The Kanglos the Troop everything. I used to emulate him constantly.

-U recently pranked LL on Shade 45

When i heard LL was gonna be on i was like “oh shit I gotta call.” I wanted to do something funny and i wanted to fuck with him and see if he could guess it was me. But if anyone cant tell that i was genuine with thte call the i dont know what to tell them b/c obviously im a fan. Treach did it for me.

-People sleep on his impact right?

Proof put me on Treach. That dude originated a lot of styles. When i heard the third verse to Yoke the Joker i was like i quit rapping. At taht point i realized i could never be the best.

-What was ur original day job?

I was a dishwasher. I used to take the bus all the way out there. It was like ten miles from my house….just terrible.

-It gave u the inceteive to get those skills up huh?

oh yeah definetly. I worked there for a year and was like fuck this. I dropped out of school and wanted to pursue rap but my mom told me to get a job or get out so I had to get out anyway.

-What makes Eminem original?

It’s a lot of craziness. People looked at me like the crazy white boy you know? I didn’t get stuck with that label that was who I was. My weird word play and image hooked people. There were others who before me like Beastie Boys and Third Base but in a sense I blew open the door for a lot of other nationalities to do this.

His voice has the depth of Marvin Gaye’s, it allows you to relax and to travel through a refreshing universe made of tenderness. In fact, Q Harper’s music is ideal for Summer time while sitting on the beach and letting your thoughts wander through a landscape of delight.

Like light rain drops, Quiet Time takes you by surprise. The softness of a slight piano and guitar duo will introduce the listener into a couple’s dialogue. Feel the warmth of Q Harper’s voice, feel the dedication towards the woman he loves…get submersed into a wonderful ocean of love while listening to the delightful song.

Hey You begs to differ from the preceding song. Built on a rhythmic instrumental background, the song opens up on Q Harper’s vocal performance that summarizes a reminescence of the good times.

Shout Dance allows the listener to discover the diversity of Q Harper’s vocals. His voice goes from raspy to soft. The listener will certainly appreciate the flexibility of his vocal chords.

Again, Must Be My Wife lets soft and darker elements work together in total harmony.

Q Harper deserves to be discovered in depth. The artist has the full potential to move his listeners with his rich and heartfelt vocal performances. True to the spirit of Motown, Q Harper allows his listeners to relax while enjoying some good quality music.

Get some good Q Harper vibes from his my space account.

This topic is going to be up, close and personal. Today, instead of my usual musical topics, I’ll dedicate this short story to my grandmother.

French actor Fernandel used to say “grannies are frail, they are soft, they smell good like lilac and mimosa, and one day, they are not here any more”…words couldn’t express how much I miss the woman whom I owe the most precious hours of my childhood.

My granny used to live in a small area, near the German border…even the name of my grandparents’ quarter, Hochwald, would sound German to any French speaking ear.

I used to communicate in German with my granny who did not speak one single word of French, despite the fact she had been living in France since she was 14…her husband (my grandpa) was German speaking too. When I was a little kid, nearly everybody expressed in a German dialect. Yes, I know, it sounds weird as it was counted as a French territorry, but this is the case of most French territories near the German border in Alsace-Lorraine, where most people of my generation grew up bilingual.

Sweet childhood memories are coming up to my mind, bringing me back to the age of innocence.
I remember how I would sit in a warm bed at her house and she would tell me the story of Rumpelstielschen. I wanted her to repeat it over and over again. Kids are very repetitive and usually love fantastic tales. I fell in love with Grimm’s Märchen at a very early age.

My granny would teach me about German culture and history. She would narrate very concrete stories such as WWII stories, how she went through that awful period. Her way of telling stories made them become a living thing into my mind; particularly when she was telling me about the kilometers she made with her sister Charlotte to go to school.
I revived the scenes; it captivated me.
As strange as it might sound to my readers, I still remember great aunt Charlotte’s face, although she died when I was about 2 years and a half.

Sweet granny…she would cook chicken soup, Eintopf (a mixture of veal meat), Erbsensuppe (pea soup) for me and my childhood friend. We would sit there and laugh while sipping on her delicious home made lemonade.

I remember Christmas at her house. Good cinnamon smells would flatter my nose. The house was clean and fresh. It was full of people. We used to celebrate with simplicity and joy. Then we went to the mass. Even the mass wasn’t annoying for me, because my granny’s sweet and emotional voice fulfilled my ears.

My connection to the German language will always remain emotional I guess…It reminds me of my golden childhood hours.

I always felt guilty not to have been there when my granny passed away. I now realize she never left me.

Dear readers,

Today I am addressing to all of you. I am being attacked (unless I missed the point) because I dare to state my personal point of view about Barack Obama on the Eminem blog, a place I have been running for years now, with Gavin Sheridan’s precious support (I previously used to be a contributing writer for Gavin’s blog).

I have been misquoted numerous times since I started writing on the net. But the current attack is beyond belief. Some people (who can’t be serious) think I am speaking in Eminem’s name. Moreover, they imply that I pretend to be the spokesman for Eminem’s political views.

As the “About Me” part of the Eminem points it out with a maximum of clarity, my name is Isabelle Esling. I am the author of a biographical essay about Eminem. I am a freelance music journalist whose main topics are Eminem and hip hop related, but who is also audacious enough to dare to explore other subjects of interest, such as politics, lifestyle, humanities, for instance…

As I always stated it with honesty, I am in NO WAY related to Eminem. I never met him, although I had the chance to meet some of his fellows at a concert back in 2003.

I have no contact to Eminem, nor am I on his payroll.

I don’t know what Eminem or his Shady Records fellows’ opinions about Obama are. All I know is that Eminem always expressed his strong opposition towards President Bush in his music. He also once stated he’d vote for John Kerry in the past. But honestly, I don’t care.

I am entitled to my opinion, as well as Eminem is to his.

It is not because I write on a place that is Eminem related that I should not expose my personal opinions. By the way, if this is deranging you in one way or another, just don’t read me. I don’t understand why all the fuss about one single Barack Obama article, when the whole cobweb is full of articles dedicated to him!

Anyway, would I add my own copyright if I pretented to be Eminem and to be speaking in his name?

Get some common sense!

Gangsta Rap 2006 CD review…hopefully coming soon! stay tuned, folks:)

We live in a society that is afraid of its own demise. Most people won’t admit it, but they are afraid to get older, moreover to look older. A money driven, star struck society, that has given up any ethical values strongly encourages women over 30 to use Botox injections- in order to look dewrinkled and youthful.

Ok, nobody (even those who don’t admit it) likes to look old and wrinkled- in short- stunned. While I’d ridicule and dismiss the concept of “ageing gracefully” (no I don’t like all those wrinkled grandma faces with grey hair, telling us that their looks are sooo cool), I am also strongly against the whole Botox advertisement, whether in newspapers or on TV. Some depraved, crooked journalists will push women towards Botox injections and surgical operations, exploiting their fears and inferiority complexes.

Let me tell you: Botox injections and getting under the knife of some surgeons is far from being innocent. To tell you the truth, it might even put your life in serious danger, leave your disfigured and even unsatisfied with your “new looks”. Not only is it very expensive, it can also harm your body, leave your face swollen for weeks,..Botox does enter your brain, were you aware of that?

Honestly, I don’t want anything chemical to invade my cerebral tissues that way. I’d be pretty much afraid of it.

My personal opinion about Botox is that it doesn’t make people look better. Of course, it dewrinkles their faces, but the big paradox is that they still look old and unnatural after a Botox session.

I’ve seen JK Rowling and Madonna’s Botox effects and frankly, I’m not impressed IN THE LEAST. Actually, it doesn’t make them look beautiful as far as I am concerned. I’d prefer women of their age with a few more wrinkles, but natural looking faces. I’d also like to point out to anybody who might object that Madonna “looks like 25 at 50″ that most of her pics are airbrushed and professionally shot. Have you ever seen photoshoots of Madonna and Christina Aguilera without any trace of make up on their faces? I have- and it scared me away. They looked worse than average people of the same age you’d cross in the street. Believe me, it is actually true.

I really hate it when people turn into chemical beauties.

It really looks like humanity has forgotten about nature’s powerful recipes!

If people stuck to a natural lifestyle, had more sleep, drank more water, praticed more sports, used more natural ressources, ate themselves young, they’d look younger at any age!

Believe me, ways to reverse the clock-in a very natural way- up to 12 years actually do exist…if you are ready to change some of your bad, unhealthy habits!

The funny thing is that women’s purses would do better too…because natural products and natural lifestyles cost less!

I already shared some of my beauty secrets with you. It is entirely up to you to change your lifestyle. Make the best choice!
