Dear readers,

As you probably noticed, I have been quite busy lately. I’ve been posting less articles, doesn’t mean I lost interest in everything hip hop, though:)

I am grateful for 2009’s teachings and I wish you all a blessed Xmas and a very Happy New Year:)

I am angry against the British media. I am angry about all the fascination with celebrities. But, moreover, I can’t stand all the fabricated sob stories about Big Brother fabricated “star” Jade Goody. Now people are talking about deceased Jade as if she was an ‘extraordinary person’, a ’saint’, a remarkable mom, etc. Some people even want to create a ‘ Jade Goody musical’.

Frankly does Jade Goody deserve all that? I don’t think so.

I do think that she was a poorly educated young woman and a pretty much annoying too. She really got into the media’s spotlight when she started bullying her Big Brother rival Shilpa Shetty. This was a pretty shameful episode in which she made racist remarks about Shilpa and her folks. It offended a lot of people in India. It nearly went to a diplomatic incident. Should we applaud Jade Goody for her lack of intelligence and diplomacy? Certainly not.

Of course, it is sad she died from cancer. Cancer is an horrible illness and I don’t wish it to anybody. But was Jade Goody the only cancer sufferer in the world? She was lucky to get all the medication she needed.

It is also sad she left two orphans. But her kids won’t lack anything for their future upbringing. Have you ever thought of the numerous kids living without their mom, because of the same illness, but whose remaining parent or grandma struggle financially to raise them?

Being “famous” doesn’t make a person interesting. Paris Hilton might be famous ( thanks to her parents’ fortune, by the way), but she is probably one of the most annoying women in the world-at least in my opinion.

I wish the media stopped putting people who don’t deserve it on a pedestal. Jade Goody hasn’t written anything, nor has she made any music or created anything else worth our interest.

So why keep talking about her?

To Gavin Sheridan and all of you Irish readers…enjoy the day:)

Global rating of the product:5 stars, definitely a must see!

I recently discovered The Apostle, an excellent movie in which outstanding actor Robert Duvall plays the role of a preacher. Raised into a black religious community in Texas, Sonny ( interpreted by Robert Duvall) seems to be born to carry God’s word. As a charismatic leader of his church, Sonny is as successul in his congregation as a pastor can dream of. Unfortunately, his wife cheats on him and Sonny murders his wife’s lover.

Forced to change his name into E.F, Sonny moves to Louisiana where he soon becomes the new leader of a little community, in which he totally invests himself into preaching the Gospel.

He is very much loved and respected, converts a lot of people on his way.

In the end, he gets caught by the police and surrenders after a very moving and musical religious office.

But was is thought to be an end is just the very beginning: as the movie ends, you can see Sonny preaching into Jesus’ name to his co- detainees.

Even if you are not a religious person, I would recommend the movie for its actors and the beautiful musical background made of powerful gospel songs.

Make sure to add The Apostle to your DVD library!

Have you ever heard about a hip hop group called Dirty Water? If not, I’ll offer you a little bit more insight into Joe D and Cool Cee Brown’s duo. The originality of the Washington Dc group probably lies in its astute instrumental choices ( an intelligent mixture of semi loud keyboard sounds and soft vocals). In addition, the clever artists allow the listeners to plunge into the darkness of the ghetto slums. Grimy and rough voices -that can also play it soft when needed- will open up the curtains.

The beauty of Love Style is indeed the combination of all elements mentioned aboved. Keyboards and female vocals will start your walk into Dirty Water’s universe. As you’ll progress in your discovery, the sounds get darker, the voice angrier as syllables decapitate any ghetto wannabe. I enjoyed the song to the fullest. Softness isn’t excluded from the song either. You are gonna like it- for sure!

Call Me starts on a soulful melody based on a short piano-keyboard background, while a male voice breaks out of the delicate atmosphere. Like a susurrous rustle, a boyfriend pours his heart out to his girlfriend. Nice love song.

TDK totally enlightens Dirty Water’s unbeatable’s flow. Let’s get intellectual, political and murder syllables. The artists excel at both. I loved the trumpet background.

Eat My Breakfast Alone: the instrumentals will remind you of some Barry White background. Sadness, bitterness emerge from the song that exposes a load of reproaches aimed a girl who seems to be some kind of gold digga.

A dynamic tempo made of electric guitar sounds introduces Make Me Feel Good. Again, Dirty Water excel at jungling with syllables. This song will rock you.

Busy times…

Dear readers,

I haven’t been able to post much stuff lately. It is due to an incredibly busy schedule. Doesn’t mean I’m not interested in writing, though. My passion for writing and the music in general are pretty much alive! I’m just asking you for a little bit patience, I will post some new articles as soon as I can:)

Le Diner De Cons is certainly one of the best, most hilarious French comedies. Whether you want to be entertained or you’re feeling on the low, Francis Veber’s film will make you laugh from the beginning to the end.

Pierre Brochant, ( brilliantly interpreted by Thierry L’Hermite), who works as an editor in Paris, has one of the weirdest hobbies you could find: during his sparetime, he and his snobbish friends organize dinners during which a bunch of chosen stupid people expose their passions. Of course, the chosen “idiots” have no idea about what is going on. At the end of the dinner, the king of the morons gets ” crowned” by Brochant and his friends.

This is how Francois Pignon ( remarkably played by Jacques Villeret), an accountant of the finance ministry enters into Pierre Brochant’s life. He is the perfect ” king of the morons to be”, at least in Pierre Brochant’s eyes. His passions for matchstick models is supposed to entertain Pierre and his rich friends at an organized dinner, along with a whole bunch of other ” idiots”. But things don’t work out as expected…and Francois Pignon is causing more chaos than expected.

Enjoy the freshness of the comedy, the clever play of actors such as Francis Huster and Daniel Prevost, the touch of human drama with Alexandra Vandernoot and Catherine Frot, laugh out loud at Francois Pignon’s stupidity.

Don’t rely on the English translation ( it is full of mistakes), rather catch the comedy’s funny French spirit. My advice: watch the movie in French, you won’t regret it!
