He was moving back and forth from St Joseph to Detroit with his mom. They settled down in Detroit in his teenage years. Marshall used to live accross 8 Mile with his mom on the poorest side (the black side), but he also spent several years with his uncle Todd Nelson in his Timken house on the white side of Detroit.
